A Short History of the Ford Taurus

When the Ford Taurus first debuted in 1986, it was, well, different than most sedans on the road at the time. Back in the 80s, many sedans were heavy and boxy. But the Taurus was light, curvy and sleek. Because of Ford's pioneering style, many other car companies began to rethinking their angular designs.

It set a lot of standards for Ford, as well. The automaker has built 7,519,919 models just through 2007, alone. In the 90s, the sedan was one of the best-selling cars in the United States. As a matter of fact, the only Ford models to outsell the Taurus are the F-150, Escort, Model T and Mustang. And since its inception, it's undergone many design and engineering changes, all while remaining a staple in Ford's lineup.

It was a sad day in 2007 when Ford discontinued the Taurus. But people wanted it back! It was reintroduced for the 2010 model year, and the 2012 model is nothing short of a superb sedan. It's everything you've come to expect from Ford, and then some.

Now available at Lehighton Ford, the new Ford Taurus features a roomy interior and spacious trunk, available all-wheel drive, 17-inch alloy wheels, integrated blind spot mirrors, a six-way power driver seat, and even Bluetooth and iPod connectivity options. It earned a four-out-of-five star rating for overall safety in government crash tests, and a best-possible rating of "Good" from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). And you'll be nothing short of impressed with the 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 263 ponies of power.
